Introduction

This document sets out the App Technologies and Similar Technologies Policy (Policy) of Travelhers Limited (trading as Travelhers), a company registered in England and Wales under company number 14443611with registered office at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, United Kingdom, WC2H 9JQ (Company, we, our, or us).

This Policy applies when you use our mobile application: Travelhers App (App) and describes the types of technologies and similar technologies we use on our App, how we use them, and how you can manage your choices and permissions in relation to them.

We may update this Policy from time to time by making an updated version available through the App and we encourage you to check the App periodically to ensure that you are aware of the most current version of this Policy.

App Technologies or Similar Technologies

Our App uses certain software development kits (SDKs), device storage, identifiers and similar technologies to enable the App to function, provide particular features, maintain security, understand how the App is used and identify and resolve technical issues. These technologies may store information on, or access information from, your mobile device.

We do not use advertising identifiers, including Apple’s Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA), and we do not use the App for behavioural advertising or cross-app advertising tracking.

The categories of technologies that we may use in connection with the App are described below:

Strictly Necessary TechnologiesCertain technologies we use are essential for the proper functioning of our App, without which our App will not work or certain features won’t be accessible to you. For example, we may need to remember data you’ve inputted from one screen to the next in a single session. These technologies may also be used to enable account authentication, maintain the security of the App and your account, prevent fraud or unauthorised access, balance traffic across servers, deliver essential functionality and remember settings necessary for the operation of the App.
Performance and Analytics TechnologiesWe may use analytics technologies to understand how Members use and interact with the App and to help us improve the Services. We collect information about how you interact with the App, including the screen and features you visit or use and the frequency of your visits. This information helps us identify patterns of usage within the App, collect analytics data, identify issues you may have had when using the App, make changes to enhance your user experience, and analyse whether our marketing is effective and relevant to you. For example, we use PostHog for product analytics. PostHog may process information such as screens viewed, actions taken within the App, an account identifier, certain profile properties and device metadata. We do not use PostHog for session recording and do not use it for advertising tracking. Where required by applicable law, we will obtain your consent before using non-essential analytics and performance technologies.
Functional TechnologiesWe use functional technologies to improve your experience on our App and make things more convenient for you. These technologies personalise your experience based on your preferences, by remembering your details such as your language, region, accessibility settings, or other App preferences. Technologies used for account security, authentication or load balancing will generally be treated as strictly necessary where they are essential to the operation of the App. We may also use user interface customisation technologies to store your App preferences. Where required by applicable law, we will obtain your consent before using non-essential functional technologies.
Third-Party App TechnologiesOur App may include functionality and services provided by third parties, such as location search, payments, push notifications, deep links and technical error-monitoring services. We integrate these features and services into our App to improve usability and member experience. Depending on the functionality used, these third-party technologies may store information on, or access information from, your device and may receive limited technical or usage information necessary to provide the relevant service. For example: ▪ Google Places is used to provide location search and autocomplete functionality, including when you select a profile location or a location for an adventure, trip or event. The location search text entered by you may be sent to Google to provide relevant place suggestions. We use Google Places for location search and autocomplete and do not use Google Maps to track your location. We do not currently send your precise GPS coordinates to Google Places for this purpose. ▪ Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification service (APNs) may be used to deliver push notifications to your device. ▪ Firebase Crashlytics and Sentry may be used to identify and diagnose technical errors and crashes affecting the App. We do not use Firebase Analytics. ▪ Branch.io may be used to provide deep-linking, invitation and sharing functionality. When you interact with these features, the relevant third party may receive information about your use of the App to the extent necessary to provide the relevant functionality and in accordance with its applicable privacy terms. Where consent is required, these technologies will not be activated until you have made the relevant choice.

technologies we use

We may maintain a separate list or schedule identifying the specific SDKs and similar technologies used by the App, their provider, purpose, information processed, duration (where applicable), and whether consent is required. This information may be updated from time to time as the technical functionality of the App changes.

How long do App Technologies Operate?

The period for which information associated with an App technology remains stored on, or accessible from, your device depends on the type of technology used.

Some technologies operate only during a particular App session and cease to operate when you exit the App or end the relevant session.

Other technologies or locally stored information may remain on your device after a session has ended until they expire, are removed by the App, are deleted by you, or the App is uninstalled, depending on the relevant technology and its purpose.

How do Third Parties use App Technologies?

We use certain third-party providers to support functionality within the App, including product analytics, location search, push notifications, deep linking and technical error monitoring. These providers may process limited information necessary to provide their services in accordance with their respective privacy policies and our arrangements with them. Further information about the third parties we use is set out in our Privacy Policy under the section ‘Who we share your personal data with’.

We do not use Google Analytics in the App.

How do I Control App Permissions and Technologies?

You can manage certain permissions granted to the App through your mobile device settings, including permissions relating to location services and push notifications. Where the App provides an in-App preference or consent setting for a non-essential technology, you may also manage your choices through that setting.

If you disable certain permissions or technologies, some features of the App may not function properly or may no longer be available to you.

We do not currently use advertising identifiers, including IDFA, or third-party technologies for behavioural advertising or cross-app advertising tracking
